Using cheap, non compliant building materials

Budget is a key issue in any project with clients and builders alike always on the lookout for cost effective solutions.  However, sometimes, the lure of cost big savings can be found in using cheaper, imported materials that do not comply with Australian Standards or the Building Code of Australia.  However, as this article shows, a cost saving in the short term can result in a huge expense, injury or potentially loss of life later on.  The apparent widespread use of this cladding material in commercial and high rise residential applications will have saved vast sums of money through the construction process, but it could well now make some legal folk very wealthy.  Have a read at
